Aluminium International Today May/June 2019

There’s no ‘I’ in AGV TEAM

A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to be invited on a trip to Canada by the Québec Government, to visit the manufacturers and suppliers across the region.

The schedule was tight and we managed to cram a lot in to five days; starting in Montreal and working our way up to finish in the Saguenay region.

I was whisked away on plant tours, given the VIP treatment at supplier factories and able to meet and interview leading figures across the industry. It was a great visit and hopefully you will see the fruits of this labour across the Aluminium International Today portfolio...

We start in this issue with an exclusive interview with Vincent Christ, CEO, ELYSIS and a focus on the new autonomous AGV TEAM from Mecfor.

One of the most positive points to come out of the trip and something I witnessed first hand, was that suppliers and manufacturers across Québec
are working together to take on major projects. Their expertise covers all elements of aluminium production, so it makes sense that they join forces to build a stronger, innovative industry.

I look forward to seeing what is to come!

Back to this issue and we also have a special focus on energy modulation and consumption across smelters in China, a look at secondary processing and recycling, as well as the transport and handling technologies that are making waves.

Enjoy!
