Nikolaev refinery in record output

UC Rusal’s Nikolaev alumina refinery delivered a record production level of 1.6Mt in 2011.
The record was reached following a $350M facility upgrade. A the lime burning kiln was reconstructed with its conversion to heating gas, a fifth calcination kiln built and the captive power plant reconstructed.
The output increase was also made possible due to of Rusal’s production system, raising equipment use ratio by 2.6% in 2011 compared to 2010.
In 2010 the alumina refinery produced 1.534Mt tonnes of alumina in 2010, with a 1.57Mt total production capacity.
