Nalco receives bauxite mining clearance

Indian aluminium producer Nalco has received approval for a bauxite mining lease in eastern India.
The new mine in Potangi, a few kilometres from Nalco’s existing mine in Orissa, has bauxite reserves of more than 70Mt.
BL Bagra, Nalco finance director, said the company would now need clearance from the government after which operations could take three-five years to begin.
